About Port Augusta

Port Augusta is a coastal city situated in the north of South Australia. It is located at the crossroads of Australia's north and south, and east and west. Port Augusta is a gateway to the stunning Flinders Ranges, Outback and Spencer Gulf regions. It is also home to the country's largest solar power station.

Getting There

Port Augusta is accessible by car, coach and train. The city is located at the junction of the Eyre Highway and the Augusta Highway, making for easy road access. Coaches also run regularly from Adelaide and other regional centres. There is also a train station in Port Augusta with services to Adelaide and Darwin.

Climate

Port Augusta has a hot semi-arid climate, with dry summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures can reach up to 40°C, while winter temperatures average around 16°C. The best time to visit is between May and September when the temperatures are cooler and more comfortable for outdoor activities.
